The boat tacks through a narrow angle, foots fast, and gives a smooth ride. The calculated comfort value is higher than that of the new Catalina 320, and its capsize screening value is lower. Thus it feels much larger than 27 feet.
Sailing ability is this boat's forte. It's easy to maneuver and steer, with a wide "groove" of performance. It is a forgiving boat for a new skipper honing his sailing skills. Powering is uneventful, as it should be with the 14 horsepower freshwater cooled Diesel. This pushes the boat at over 6 knots and gives reasonable control in reverse.
I liked the big cockpit lockers, which will swallow fenders, sailbags, and other bulky items.
She is a neat, clean dry boat.
